So I (Cameron) am sitting in my Philosophy 201 class wearing my black and red UNLV Rebels hoodie (it's game week, I gotta represent) waiting for class to get underway when this guy comes up to me and starts a conversation. It went more or less as follows:
Guy: So you, uh, like the Rebels or something?
Me: How did you guess?
Guy: Hmm... and you think that is fine to wear around here?
Me: Yep.
Guy: Really?
Me: Uh huh.
Guy: So what, are you like from there or something?
Me: Yep.
Guy: I guess I just don't understand that cuz I've grown up here.
Me: ...
Guy: ... so when byu plays UNLV who do you cheer for?
Me: The Rebels, most definitely.
Guy: I guess I can kind of understand that, like if byu were to play Texas I would definitely root for Texas. I have always just kind of liked them too. And then, I mean, Texas is definitely gonna win so I would definitely root for them....
Yeah... I had to call it quits at that point. I realized that this guy was just not at my level. Rooting for a team just because they are going to win even when you have greater loyalties to the losing school? Really?!?
Ladies (I know my audience), if you ever engage in a discussion about the world of sports, don't commit conversational suicide with a comment like the one from my fair-weather classmate.
Sports-fan etiquette 101: you choose your team, and you are loyal to that team through the thick and thin. If you decide to switch loyalties, which is a complicated process I will not go into here, then you do it and you don't waver based on the predicted outcome of a game.

hey, check this out...
We're in a business class together this semester and we're booking weddings for her as part of a project. She's an amazing photographer and very reasonably priced. She is more than happy to travel for weddings. She also does family pictures, baby pictures...just everything really. Anyways, if you or anyone you know is looking around, here you go!Sunday, January 31, 2010
just for your amusement...
These days everyone on Facebook has pictures of gorgeous movie stars with comments under it saying, "You guys do look so alike! You're so beautiful". Since everyone is doing this celebrity look alike, I thought I'd share with you who I have been compared to over the years. Mind you, well over ten people in my lifetime have told me how uncanny the resemblance is between us. I don't see it. I refuse to see it.
Yes, the homely girl on Little House on the Prairie. Not only have people told me we look alike, but someone at Six Flags actually asked me for my autograph, convinced I was her. Thank you very much.

confession...
I just yelled out loud, "Come on, Steph, BLOG!"
I told Cameron that I was going to blog about it and he said, "They're gonna think we're obsessed with them".
It may be true.

This probably isn't what you wanted from us...
So I know that we haven't posted in FOREVER, and most of you ladies (let's be honest) are getting sick of seeing that shabbyapple post everytime... You might, therefore, be disappointed to see that this post from me (Cameron), and I don't plan on posting cute pictures or a life update. Instead, I want to share this video with any of you who haven't had the pleasure of seeing it yet. Enjoy!
Can anyone wonder why sports are the greatest thing in the world after that video? You can't tell me you didn't get goosebumps. If you didn't like it, do your husbands/boyfriends/guyfriends a favor and show them. Happy New Year Everyone.
Cameron
PS: Lauren is pregnant. (In case you didn't know)

One day...
Cameron needs to make some money so I can buy this...and he probably needs to buy me a personal trainer to look like her. i love love love this dress! Notice the beautiful heals she's wearing as well. My new favorite site...http://shabbyapple.com. Everything there is perfect. I need to stop looking at the site because it's just too much of a tease. It's almost painful seeing something I want so bad and then just shutting the computer. Does anyone else know this pain?? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

Anyways, check out the site. You won't regret it.

Look what I did!!!
So, we went to Super Cuts a few weeks back and I sat in a chair next to Cameron as some girl cut his hair. We were in and out of that place in seriously 5 minutes and I felt like an idiot. I left there telling Cameron, "I could do that! I feel like an idiot that we just spent money on your haircut and I just know I could do that...it was so simple!" Anyways, Cameron agreed to let me cut his hair next time...I think he was using reverse psychology hoping I'd back down, but no. I had to at least give it a try. So, that was our after church activity today. Here is the evidence...

It was so dang scary but I did it! I was so proud of myself. I kept telling Cameron I was being domestic for once (seeing as he does all of the cooking in the relationship). It looks great (I think) and it saved us like $15! Wow...look at me contributing to the frugality in our marriage. Well, everyone please send your comments of "Wow, Lauren, you're amazing!" and "Geez, Lauren, I wish you'd cut my hair!" Thank you in advance :)

Confession
So Lauren and I have found a new great place for dessert. Some of you may not have heard of it before but we are hooked. They have such a great variety and keep us coming back for more. Wanna know our new secret pigout???

That's right. Baskin Robbins. It is delicious. You take one step inside the store and you have to focus. One slip of the tongue and you will end up ordering a double scoop of vanilla and chocolate; although that probably wouldn't be the end of the world. Lauren and I, however, are seasoned veterans. We take our time in the store. Tonight, for example, I sampled the Snickers ice cream and their Apple Pie a la Mode. Lauren tasted the Snickers and the Mississippi Mud. Wow! You always run the risk of looking like a complete pig... but humiliation is only temporary.
Our favorite ice cream, however, is the Oreo Outrageous. It is nothing like your everyday cookies 'n' cream. It is super dark chocolate ice cream (looking like the dark chocolate cookie of an Oreo), with strips of the white stuff running through it, and finished off with chunks of Oreo running throughout. Delicious. Here is a picture, in case you aren't drooling already.

Please, don't lick your monitor...
Happy eating,
Cameron

Our lives as of right now...
Okay, so school has officially started...hence, no updates lately on here. Well, school and work is finally getting the best of us. I'm taking 18 credits and Cameron has 17. On top of all of our school work I'm working at BYU moving crew and Cameron just got a new job at the MTC as a Spanish teacher. Cameron is also a referee for flag football twice a week and sells his body (plasma) twice a week. You'd think that would keep us busy enough but somehow we managed to scrounge up one more job together. We are official employees of Hot Poppin' Kettle Corn at the BYU home games. Cameron is the actual kettle corn maker and I bag it (with a few others). Yesterday we got to the game 4 hours before it started (to set up and learn how everything works) and we ended up staying until 10:00! We were SO TIRED!! It was terrible. We hurt everywhere! When it came time to walk home, we were so dead and our dear friend Tommy picked us up and brought us home. Anyways, with our crazy school/work scheduling we haven't had a chance to show fun things that have gone on. well...just one, i guess. We went to the fair in Salt Lake with some friends and Tams. It was fun. I must say...fairs are expensive! they're more of a "go when mom and dad are paying" kind of thing...but we still had a great time. Here are a few pictures...
Cam, Tams, Carrie, Andrew and I
Cam, Tams, Carrie, Andrew and I
Cam trying out the back seat of a police car---yeah, we were desperate for some free entertainment.
We actually did end up paying to see this gigantic croc. It was huge.
Worth the dollar.
We found some farm animals (Carrie was disgusted...it was funny). This little guy was in heaven from the scratching behind his ear. He was cute.
Cows.
Okay, the ferris wheel was much scarier than I thought it was going to be. I was under the impression they were just slow and whatever...no, it was horrific! Okay, maybe i'm overexaggerating a little bit. but I still was frightened.
Tamara's bling...
And this is what happens after a long week of school and work and too much partying the night before at the fair. he was so ti-dud!
And this picture has nothing to do with the fair but we had dinner with some of Cameron's family the next day and this is Meg. She's adorable.

Giving this blog a shot of testosterone...
Some might say that blogging is only for the wifey, but I beg to differ. If I am man enough to wear a v-neck purple tee, I think that I can pull off a blog post.
Who else can't wait for football season?!?! Yesterday was the last Saturday that I will have to endure without the beauty that is college football. I am hoping that I am not a bad luck charm for UNLV Football like I am for Rebel Basketball--I come home from the mission and they stink up the joint. I am predicting a bowl game victory for this year's squad. Go Rebels.
So we had a great Saturday. We keep our house clean enough, but it is nice to know that it is REALLY clean after a deep Saturday cleaning job. Lauren and I love our place--especially when it is clean. We also bought a cool picture of the Vegas temple at Deseret Book and hung it up. We finally have ALL of our frames off the ground and onto the walls. The place really looks great.
After we cleaned up, we ran some errands. We had to get a few things taken care of before school starts swamping us this semester. I got Lauren's computer to work on the campus wireless network, we found her backpack we thought we'd lost, bought her a daily planner, and got all our textbooks together. By the way, if you are looking for a cheap textbook alternative, try CHEGG.COM. We rented some of our $100 books for like $10 or $15 each, and you just return them for free at the end of the semester.
We finished off the day eating some Costco potstickers with a side salad including yummy salt and pepper seasoned Texas Toast croutons. We were about to wind down our night watching "Flash of Genius" but before we could start the movie, we got a call from Tamara... She's getting married!!!! We are so excited for her and Remington. In case you don't know one or both of them, here is their engagement picture (I think it just... works)
OK, maybe this one is better...
We are so happy that Remington will finally be in the family.
That's all I got. It was a good weekend.

and now some beach...

mia loved throwing rocks in the ocean. she cleaned up that disgusting beach :)

this is cameron's sad face. it's pitiful and i love it. i'm pretty sure this picture was taken right after he threw sand on my leg cause he was "mad" at me.

in front of the condos. so beautiful there!

nothin like 7-11 sunglasses for under $5, right? they're ugly. i know.
rachel was a constant drive thru window for little tanner :)
it was an amazing time! we had a blast and it's about time i got to go. i've heard about "the beach" for years and years so it was fun to finally experience it. we loved it!!

we have internet!!!
ok i'm a little embarrassed to admit it...but we were getting really mad about our internet because we share with 2 other couples in our complex and it hasn't been working and cam's been trying to get someone from comcast to get out here because, "it has to be their fault cause it's not the router". long story short, we finally went to the router today to make sure a reset wouldn't fix it and low and behold, the freaking router wasn't plugged in!! okay, we kind of feel like idiots but at least we didn't threaten to not pay comcast this month. wow. this is a boring blog. i'll get better...i promise.

beginners.
so we haven't really figured out this whole blogging world but we wanted to give it a try...so here we go!
cameron and i have had such a great summer so far.
1. we were married in may
2. honeymoon (cruise...so fun)
3. moving into our new place together in provo (very quaint and cute if we do say so ourselves)
4. working together (spending every minute of the day together...we love it)
5. lake powell houseboat trip...nice base tan
6. beach trip to carlsbad for a week...perfect end to the summer.
well, needless to say, we love being married and we're trying to really take advantage of family time before school starts up again in just a few weeks and we're tied to provo a bit more.
not bad for my first blog. good night.
